This 15 minute broadcast chronicles the story of a Chilean grad student who was arrested and detained for attending a protest in Mexico for the 43 "disappeared" students. He tells the story of his arrest and how eventually they were forced to drop the charges and liberate him. The story will have students on the edge of their seat wondering how things will turn out. This audiocast is best suited for a Heritage learners class that can sustain longer amounts of spoken Spanish with good comprehension. Download contains comprehension questions that accompany the podcast and an essay prompt with rubric for reflection afterwards. A Spanish VAP class may also be able to manage the activity with some help from you if you cut the podcast up and are willing to replay so students can fully comprehend. Lesson takes one class period to complete.
