This listening practice presents the story of Mauricio, an undocumented mechanic who became famous on the MTV show Pimp My Ride. It runs about 20 minutes and is best suited for a Heritage Learners Spanish class but could also be taught at AP level 5 if you stop the audio cast and replay sections for students to grab the details. Lesson download includes questions that follow the program, answer key and a youtube link to a particularly funny episode of the Mexican version of the show starring Mauricio. Lesson takes one class period to run for Heritage learners, with time to discuss their answers and respond to the essay prompt. Level 5 students may need to write their essay prompt as homework following the podcast. This episode was by far the most popular yet with my students and we had a lot of fun watching part of the show afterwards.
