Product Description
After seeing Read-O for younger students on Two Can Do It (, I knew that I would have to adapt it for my middle school students. Students complete fun, at-home literacy tasks in order to achieve Read-O. Parents initial a square when their student has completed the task. Students should complete five tasks for credit. If students complete five tasks in a row and get READ-O, reward them with a special prize. It's perfect for long breaks, gets parents involved, and makes literacy fun!

READ-O asks students to:

-read independently
-read an interview
-borrow a book from a friend
-write a letter and proofread it
-write a short story and read it aloud to a family member
-read three articles from a magazine
-ask their parents about their favorite books
-read instructions to a game
-go to the library
-read a recipe
-read three newspaper articles
-read the lyrics to their favorite song
-help mom or dad make a grocery list
-rent a foreign film and read the subtitles
-read an encyclopedia article
-read a script or screenplay
-read three Amazon book reviews
-read instructions for a project
-browse at a bookstore
-read to a younger sibling
