Fun activity for a Friday or a day before a vacation! I play this game like "Scattegories." Going letter by letter across the top, students get one minute to fill in the categories with a word that starts with that letter. For example, you start with R. All of the answers must start with R (an animal that starts with R, something in the fridge that starts with R, etc.). Students then share their answers. If someone has the same answer as you, you don't get a point - you only get a point if no one else has the same answer! Then you do the next letter. The goal is to have the most points at the end of the game. This game forces students to THINK, because their answers must be original and creative! It is helpful to have a panel of "judges" in this game, as there will be debate about acceptable answers! This can be played as individuals or in teams. You can change the word on top, the categories, etc. Can also be used as a review game if you make the categories specific to a book you read, etc.
