ELA centers are hands down my favorite part of the school day!
Here is a quick simple way I manage my Reading Centers!
This product includes rotation cards using “READER" acronym and arrows to rotate your groups! I put magnets on the back and have students rotate at the end of centers.
Editable cards allow you to customize your groups or you can laminate and use wet-erase markers if your groups are more fluid.
R – Read with Technology
E – Engage in a Task (This is open ended so I change based on our current standards and focus, or simply based on that groups needs... usually task cards or a game.)
A – Analyze Words (This can be any type of word work.)
D – Develop your Writing (journaling, writing prompts, free write, reflections)
E – Engage in a Project (This is any type of project my students are working on independently. Usually based on student interest or Science/ Social Studies content.)
R – Read with the Teacher (This is my guided reading/ small group.)
Many of the centers are very open ended and easy to adapt to your classroom needs!
I have 6 groups because I like to work closely with small groups. You could change the first R to Reading with the teacher and do only the READ groups if that fits your classroom needs better!
I have also included a morning and afternoon sign as well as blocks in case you teach multiple classes like me!
This document is saved as a zip file and includes a PDF and and editable PowerPoint document.
I hope your kiddos enjoy centers as much as mine!
