Product Description
Are your kiddos tired of looking at boring passages and lame textbooks? Looking for a way to bring fun back to reading? Have a classroom or school-wide READING FAIR! Similar to a Science Fair, a Reading Fair lets students choose a book that they’ve read and are passionate about, and create a project that promotes that book. Not only do they enjoy digging deeper into their books, but they also get other students interested in books that they may not have considered otherwise. Projects can include a trifold storyboard, a digital book trailer, or a short film based on a short story or a chapter in a novel. This packet contains everything you need to put on your own classroom or school-wide READING FAIR, including...

• A PowerPoint presentation to introduce your students to the concept of a Reading Fair, including photographs of sample storyboard projects and links to sample digital book trailer videos.
• Sign-up sheets for those teachers who want participation in their Reading Fair to be optional.
• Checklists for K-2 and 3rd – 5th age groups for Storyboard, Digital Book Trailers, and Digital Short Film projects.
• A FAQ sheet for students that answers some of their questions.
• Directions for how to create a book trailer.
• A film-strip storyboard to help students in planning their book trailers.
• A Book vs. Movie Compare and Contrast Sheet for students who are using material from a movie adaptation of the book that they’ve chosen (we don’t want them to just watch the movie!)
• A cover sheet for students to fill out and attach to their projects. For our Reading Fair they are assigned a number for judging purposes and the number is written on their cover sheet. That number is then attached to their project (project rules state that their names should not be on their project, but you can change that rule to suit your personal preference).
• Judging rubrics for each age group.
• Blank sheets of all forms so that you can adapt them to suit your needs.
• AWARDS! I’ve included awards for this school year, but plan on updating the file every year to reflect the new year!
