I have provided an example of a Making Connections worksheet Penguins used before, during or after reading a piece of text about Penguins – used on either a page, chapter, section or whole book. These worksheets can be used on any text type e.g. non-fiction, fiction or poetry. Insert a picture of the text or piece of writing, message from the text. Children try to make connections that they have experienced in their own life.
Adapt to suit your student’s grade or text type.
Suitable for all grades, home and ESL students.
I often photocopy/scan a page picture from a reader and insert it so that the picture is a true representation of what they are reading.
My Year 4 (Grade 4-5) have been very successful using this worksheet to progress their learning.
