I created this UNO-like game for my grade 3 RTI students who are not taking time to look all the way through words.
Suitable for Grades 2, 3, 4 in RTI, intervention, or small group.
There are 2 different games with multiple variations to identify and practice prefixes and suffixes. The prefixes and suffixes used are some of those which appear most commonly in words, and are appropriate in difficulty and readability for 3rd graders, approximately Fountas & Pinnell levels MNOP or DRA 28 - 38.
en, in, non, re, un prefix
er, best ful, less, ness suffix
Players say the targeted prefix or suffix displayed at the top of the card, whether moving around the game board variation or playing with the REBOOT (change affix) cards. I have included a number of variations that I have found to be successful in keeping student interest during RTI interventions.
All of my materials with variations are created for my intervention students to get the most practice for their time while having fun. Materials are for use one-on-one, in small RTI intervention groups, in centers, projected for smart-board or white-board use. Check back for updates, and please let me know if there is a specific targeted area you would like.
