These three labs (LIGHT, REFLECTION, REFRACTION AND OPTIC FIBERS) are designed to be used in a light unit. They can be purchased and used separately or purchase all three and use as one lab. Students will have first hand experience experimenting with mirrors, fiber optics and spectrums. They will experience reflection of light with different mirror shapes, refraction through fiber optic cables and acrylic rods, and absorption/transmission of light through colored materials. Some inexpensive equipment is used. If they are not readily available through school resources, they can be found on-line. This lab can be projected and done as a group, or in small groups, independently. It’s simple enough for 6th graders to follow and think through.
