A unit for teaching steady beat and simple rhythms in common time. Students will move and play to the steady beat, explore patterns of strong and weak beats in groups of four, and create iconic patterns to represent the beat and simple rhythms. They will also create and perform body percussion sequences. This curriculum is appropriate/adaptable for K-5 students (depending on children’s previous experience and teacher’s choice of activities). Material and activities will require a minimum of three lessons and may be expanded / developed as desired into several more.
Includes five pages of detailed lesson plans and 11 pages of printables/projectables, clip art, literacy integration suggestions, and a list of additional songs and books with a railroad theme. All aboard!
