This lesson introduces and teaches CCS RI 3.8 Describe the logical connection between particular sentences and paragraphs in a text (comparison, cause/effect, first, second, third in a sequence.
This lesson focuses on teaching students the concept of how to identify signal words that would help them to determine if a text is in sequential order. They are then taught how to describe and write the events in sequential order. In the skill portion of the lesson the events will pop into the slide so that you can give them think time at each part of the slide.
This PowerPoint also comes with 2 worksheets that allow students to engage and write with the skill portion of the lesson. The lesson contains sentence frames to assist ELL's and for academic discourse.
