*This resource now comes with FULL-PAGE TEXT and FULL PAGE QUESTION/ANSWER format, in addition to interactive flip flaps for notebooks!
This set is complete with a range of ten informational texts and interactive flip flaps for notebooks and full-sheet text and full-sheet questions for those of you limited on time with interactive notes. I have also included possible responses for every part of this set to help guide your instruction. In this set, you will also find posters to hang in your classroom and an introduction to the standard complete with student notes. These activities can be used for classwork, notes, centers, homework, and assessments. In my class, we first read the article thoroughly (you might opt to do this individually, in pairs, small groups, or whole class.). Next, we decide what the author is trying to prove. After that we discuss the reasons and evidence from the text that helped us come to the author’s viewpoint. Lastly, I model strategies on how to properly make connections (using sentence frames and/or sentence starters) on how the reasons and evidence support the author’s viewpoint in the text. Of course this is just an idea, feel free to go in any order that works best for your students. ☺ I have found that the more exposure and practice the students get, the easier this skill becomes.

Explain how an author uses reasons and evidence to support particular points in a text, identifying which reasons and evidence support which point(s).
