This PowerPoint lesson introduces and teaches RI 5.3: Explain the relationships or interactions between two or more individuals, events, ideas, or concepts in a historical, scientific, or technical text based on specific information in the text.
This lesson introduces the concept that historical text is often full of connections. Sometimes, those connections are cause and effect connections. In the skill portion of the lesson, students will be given reading passages and will need to identify the connections and provide a written explanation of those connections.
This PowerPoint also includes worksheets that enable students to engage, write, and interact with the lesson. Most of the slides also include sentence frames that assist with ELLS and academic discourse throughout the lesson.
