My school recently added Heroes to our curriculum. One of the heroes we learn about is Jackie Robinson.
I created this activity to practice and assess the CCSS RI.2.9. There is a sheet with two nonfiction articles written about the life of Jackie Robinson. After reading, students are asked to underline the similarities in both passages.
On the next sheet, students record two similarities and then two differences for each passage.
Be sure to look at the preview to see exactly what you are getting. I also included an answer key.
This can be difficult for second graders because of paraphrasing. I have found that biographies are a little more difficult than the informational passages.
I have used this in my own classroom. We often work as a class or even in partners to find the similarities since this can be so challenging.
I hope you find this helpful. Thank you so much for your purchase!
