This set is complete with a range of ten informational texts and interactive flip flaps for notebooks, as well as full-sheet text and full-sheet questions for those of you limited on time with interactive notes. I have also included possible responses for every part of this set to help guide your instruction. In this set, you will also find posters to hang in your classroom and an introduction to the standard complete with student notes. These activities can be used for classwork, notes, centers, homework, and assessments. In my class, we first read the article thoroughly (you might opt to do this individually, in pairs, small groups, centers, or whole class.). Next, we decide based on the clues and information in the text what type of article we have just read (historical, scientific, or technical). After that we discuss the article together looking for events, procedures, ideas, and/or concepts that were important to understanding the text. Lastly, I model strategies on how to properly answer the comprehension questions using evidence and inference of the informational text. Of course this is just an idea, feel free to go in any order that works best for your students. ☺
