This unit correlates with 3 stories from the Reading Street basil.
1. "The Horned Toad Prince"
2. "How Tia Lola Came to Stay"
3. "Amelia and Eleanor Go for a Ride"
The pack includes several different activity prompt pages to allow versatile instruction.
Each story set includes basic character, setting, and event description prompts with lined space for written responses. However, you also have the option to use writing activity pages that still require character, event, and setting descriptions through the use of newspaper, post card, biography, and more many other prompt forms. I have found that this variation in descriptive responses provides high interest, while still meeting standard requirements.
Prompts include student self-checklists to provide opportunities to revise and self-monitoring for growth.
I use these as discussion starters and conference tools to evaluate student progress.
