Print and go!
This activity is ready for use with 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students who are at the carryover level with any of the following phonemes:
r, l, s, sh, ch, j or th (35 jokes included for each phoneme).
Simply print the pages, select your target and have the student cut on the dotted lines while practicing the jokes in the speech room.
Have the student choose his favorite jokes from the stack. Make sure he has the correct number of jokes (for the number of remaining days until Christmas).
Staple or tape the strips together into a chain. Face the joke toward the inside if the student wants to keep all of the jokes a secret from their family.
Student takes the chain home and places it on their tree or hangs it up. Each day, the student removes 1 link and tells the joke and punch line to his family, using his good articulation. (If the student does not have anyone at home to help or listen to him, he can also leave the jokes in the speech room and take them around the school during his session to tell the secretary, nurse, cafeteria ladies, etc.)
Finally, include one of the parent letters to send home to explain the homework activity.
