APPLICABLE FOR ADVANCED PLACEMENT ENGLISH CLASSES

READY-TO-PRINT GRAPHIC ORGANIZER WORKSHEET

ANSWER KEY WITH TEXTUAL REFERENCES INCLUDED

Martin Luther King Jr.'s essay, "Letter From Birmingham Jail," is the perfect text to teach the Rogerian Argument model. This worksheet prompts students to conduct a close reading of the text, and analyze each part in relation to the Rogerian Argument outline. A full answer key is included, with paragraph references to locate answers within the text.

I use this resource every year with my AP Language and Composition students; however, higher-level English classes will also benefit from understanding the Rogerian Argument model and enjoy the challenge of filling in the blanks to this graphic organizer!

For consistency’s sake, I recommend using this copy of the essay.

I recommend using this resource in combination with the BELL RINGER Set | Martin Luther King's "Letter From Birmingham Jail" and "Letter From Birmingham Jail" Rhetorical Analysis Assignment"! Both of these resources are available through Mondays Made Easy's Rhetorical Analysis UNIT | Martin Luther King's "Letter from Birmingham Jail".
