ROMEO AND JULIET ACT II ACTIVITY BUNDLE
This is a very comprehensive bundle of activities for Act 2 of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. I have broken Act II into three parts, each with its own set of activities. This activity packet contains.
1) Answering Questions with a Quotes
This is a new activity which challenges students to not only answer questions, but to also defend their opinions with at least one quote or dialogue the play. My students found this activity challenging, but very interesting! Answer sheets are also included. I have sprinkled this technique into other questions and quotes activities here.
2) Word Detective
In this activity, students act as vocabulary detectives as they try to determine the meaning of new words. First students read actual passages and dialogues from the play and use contextual clues to determine the meaning. They must provide at least one synonym for each new word. Then they use a thesaurus or dictionary to check their comprehension and find more synonyms for each word. An answer sheet is included
3+4) Important Quotes Graphic Organizers:
There are two separate graphic organizers which highlight the important quotes from Scenes 1 and 2 (the balcony scene). The first contains eight of the most famous love quotes, mostly from scene 2. Students in pairs paraphrase and analyze the meaning of each quote and then determine the type of figurative language contained in each.
This second is an active reading graphic organizer which allows the students to find their own favorite quotes in the scenes 1 and 2. This is given to add variety and give the teacher options on how they would like present these scenes.
5) Comprehension Questions and Quotes activity
a) Students answer questions and analyze the significance of important quotes from each of these scenes in the play. Answer keys are included.
6) Word Detective
Again Work and Answer keys are included. I have worked really hard on this and I think that your students will really enjoy this bundle.
