Do you Dibel?
Are your kindergarten or first grade students having trouble with nonsense word fluency skills?
If you answered yes to either question... I have just the resource for you!
My students are bored with NWF practice. There just isn't much you can do, is there? Well, that's why I created this game! What students don't love playing games? Exactly! Your students will be practicing their skills while having fun at the same time. A win-win!
Directions for play:
Each student takes a turn reading a nonsense word. If the word is read correctly they spin and move their game piece (not included). The student to the end first is the winner!
I should state, reading the nonsense word correctly is entirely up to YOU. For one of our RTI groups, reading correct letter sounds (CLS) will earn them a spin, but for another RTI group, reading the whole word (WWR) will earn them a spin.
* Game board - print, laminate, and go!
* Game spinner - print, laminate, and assemble!
* 48 nonsense word game cards - print, laminate, and go!
On 12/9/15 I have added a Nonsense Word vs Real Word sort. Students will read a CVC "word" (in some cases a real word but in most cases a nonsense word) and will then read a real word that contains begins with the same CVC "word" for instance.... jum then jump, gol then golf, and so on. There are 4 pages of cards, 6 word cards per page, for a total of 24 cards.
