RUBRIC FORM TEMPLATE (Excel) "Form for Writing Your Own Rubrics/Assessments" can be a real life saver when you (as a secondary teacher) are writing rubrics for an assignment of any length, including a major project. This EXCEL editable form has been created to save you TIME and WORK! The hardest part for you will be the writing of the definitions, each of which will explain what it is you expect your student to accomplish (according to each ELEMENT being evaluated - you may enter up to 7 ELEMENTS) to meet your expectations and the standards. These definitions will be explained under each of the "Column Headings" which in this case are classified under the captions of ADVANCED PROFICIENT, PROFICIENT, PARTIALLY PROFICIENT, NEEDS MAJOR IMPROVEMENT, UNSATISFACTORY. In other words, if you are evaluating "Content" what would ADVANCED PROFICIENT work look like, etc. When you purchase this document, you will find the complete description of what to do and the steps to follow (plus an example) in the PDF version on the ZIP file -- we highly suggest that you print and follow those directions very carefully. The EXCEL rubric appears in a second file on the ZIP. You must have ZIP capabilities to open the files. Having some spreadsheet experience could be very important to the user. This rubric has been created with "protected" cells that will automatically calculate the points for you, which will then result in a "percentage" average (rounded off to the nearest percent). IMPORTANT: When you purchase this file, SAVE it and immediately rename it to keep your original copy unblemished. Once renamed, experiment/play with that copy so you become familiar with how it is working. Do this before you begin the process of creating "the real thing." Make as many copies from the original as possible - perhaps one for every class.
Have you found yourself in need of a rubric template to track the results of a student's progress on a particular assignment - one that automatically does the calculations for you?
Teachers always seem to hate writing rubrics because they aren't sure where to begin, so perhaps this one will give you a good running start.
PRINTING OF AN EXCEL SPREADSHEET: Spreadsheets are much different than word processed documents when it comes to printing. Every teacher who is familiar with spreadsheets knows this! Since printers operate differently, it impossible for Education Get Real to give you instructions about how to print spreadsheets on the printer you are using. You will need to select the printer type and (in most situations) make adjustments to the settings: size of paper, margins, position (landscape or portrait), and you may want to do some custom scaling (if you want it to fit on one page, etc.). You may also want to work with the page setup options. You will be much happier with your printouts once you spend some time getting to know your printer.
