After introducing R.U.L.E.S. for solving systems of equations word problems using the powerpoint and handout also available in my store, I walked students through a guided example on this sheet to revisit the idea. I released them to work on two problems independently and then had them do the included partner activity.
This partner activity has 5 problems from which students choose 4 to complete. I print them onto colorful paper and usually make multiple copies. I spread them throughout the room making a center for each problem. At their own pace, students walk to where each problem station is located in the classroom and grab a copy to bring back to their seat. With a partner they complete it before choosing another problem to work on.
