Product Description
Students will recognize R.U.R.’s contribution of the word “robot” to English and “to all the languages in which science fiction is written”

Students will connect the themes (i.e. Artificial Intelligences (AIs) intent on destroying their creators) of Karl Čapek’s R.U.R. with early science/speculative fiction (i.e. Frankenstein; or The Modern Prometheus) as well as modern sci-fi works (i.e. “The Machines” from The Matrix (1999))

Following rubric requirements, students will employ previously learned poetic devices as they compose an 8-10 stanza ballad focusing on themes discussed in class
