This no prep close reading digital pack is ready to help your students practice their close reading comprehension skills! You can assign five slides or just pick one or two for students to complete at a time. Everything is digital...no pile of papers to collect and it's super easy to see who hasn't turned in their work yet! Assign through Google Classroom or Google Drive.
Students are in awe when they realize that a place like this really exists in the world! This text is also great to get discussion going in the classroom about animal behavior and habitats. It can be used as a whole group reading packet, in small reading groups, as an assessment piece, or as a homework assignment. The text is one page and there are four pages of text dependent questions and writing prompts. The following skills are covered:
1. determining important information in a text
2. main idea
3. text dependent comprehension questions
4. application of knowledge through writing prompts
This activity is no prep, just share the Google Slides presentation through a link and they can complete the activity on their own. No papers to copy, no lost assignments, no hassle! The students love doing this work on the computer, so it is highly engaging. Perfect for districts that are turning to 1:1 technology.
I like to use this packet during the week before Easter. It has a tie in to the holiday (rabbits/bunnies) without actually mentioning the holiday or Easter Bunny. But, it can be used at any time during the school year!
