-“ow” and “ou” word checklists (for student use)

How to use:
-Print out and laminate the blending sheets and the checklists. (I print multiple copies of the checklists for groups.)
-Using a toy car (or their finger) students blend the sounds together on each sheet until they can say each word fluently.
-After students complete a blending sheet, they search for the words on their checklist and check off the ones they can read. Words that are unchecked will be practiced again until mastered.
**This activity can be used independently or in small groups during centers (I have mine use a text-to-speech app on the iPad if they cannot figure out how to pronounce a word).**
The font that is used is called OpenDyslexic. OpenDyslexic is created to help with some of the symptoms of dyslexia. (opendyslexic.org)
Letters have heavy weighted bottoms to indicate direction. You are able to quickly figure out which part of the letter is down which aids in recognizing the correct letter, and sometimes helps to keep your brain from rotating them around.
