Jesse Owens and the 1936 Olympics are a story that everyone should know. This biographic film covers just that.
Included are three different activities for the film. The first is a biographical sheet about Jesse Owen's life and world politics where students are required to make connections to the Great Depression and inference how African American's will be perceived on the world stage. The second is a movie guide sheet where students will need to apply themes and standards from ELA while watching. Finally an after viewing sheet was made where students will need to tie it all together.
Students were highly engaged with the film, and the activities helped to close the Great Depression, and introduce WWI. This was co-planned with my special education teacher to make is accessible to all learners.
