Race To One Dollar
This is a fun game to use in your math centers to reinforce and practice counting money. The students have so much fun trying to be the first one to get to one dollar that they forget they are adding and doing actual math! :)
I laminated the sheet that shows which coin(s) go with which numbers on the dice so that the students can stand it up during the center activity.
I put the game directions and “how to fill out your recording sheet” pages in a sheet protector and then I put the sheet protector in a three-prong folder with pockets. I keep the copies of the recording sheets in the folder pockets.
This works really well in the classroom . . . the students just grab a folder and the number of dice the group needs to play the game with a partner.
I have also included a Counting Change activity. Students will either total the coins listed, or fill in the coins needed for the total already listed. For each activity I have created a "less than $1.00" and "more than $1.00" for different learning levels. There is also a blank sheet for your students to make his/her own amounts.
