A great game to engage students during your study of metric measurement! Partners take turns drawing cards in meters and centimeters. Students will need to convert from centimeters to meters and keep a running total. The first to reach 1 km wins! A great way to build mental numeracy and reinforce metric length conversions.

For students who are ready for a challenge, there is also a recording sheet that has them starting at 1 km and racing to get to zero first.

Recording sheet (with instructions at the top), playing cards (4 pages), and a modified card set (2 pages, 1st grade level) are all included. I printed the playing cards on different colored card stock to keep for future years.

Have fun!
