Race to 100:
Students take turns rolling a pair of ones digit decahedron dice. They add the two digits together and place that number on their mat using the place value blocks. Then play passes to the next person. When their turn comes around again, they will roll the dice again, add the numbers, and then add that sum to the total on their mat, making exchanges for groups of 10. First person to reach 100 is the winner for that round.

Addition Race to 1000:
Students take turns rolling two ones place dice and 2 tens place dice (if you don’t have tens place dice they may use single digit dice and designate which will represent the ones place and tens place). After building two double digit numbers, they add them together and place that number on their mat using the place value blocks. Then play passes to the next person. When their turn comes around again, they will roll the dice again, add the numbers, and then add that sum to the total on their mat, making exchanges for groups of 10. First person to reach 1000 is the winner for that round.

Multiplication Race to 1000:
Students take turns rolling two ones place dice and multiplying the factors together. The student places that number on their mat using the place value blocks. Then play passes to the next person. When their turn comes around again, they will roll the dice again, multiply the numbers, and then add that sum to the total on their mat, making exchanges for groups of 10. First person to reach 1000 is the winner for that round.

Race to 0:
Follow the same rules as addition but start with a 100 block and have kids trade blocks to regroup and subtract.
