Students learn about place value and our numbers in this fun and engaging activity.
To play, students roll a dice and add that many unit cubes to their board. When they get a group of ten, they trade ten cubes in for a ten rod. Along every step of the way, children practice saying how many tens and one they have and what number it equals. The first person to get to 100 or higher is the winner.
This activity can be played using base ten blocks or unifix cubes.
Included are a gameboard, student directions and a sentence frame card to hold students accountable. To make the sentence frame cards simply cut down the middle and fold on the dotted line. The cards will then stand on the table so your students can refer to them throughout the game.
