In my classroom, I split students into two teams.
Other materials we use are 2 mini scooters (one for each team), and 3 hula hoops (CVC).
We set the scooters up at one end of the carpet next to the letter tiles.
The hula hoops are at the other end.
Each team sends up an individual to figure out either the first sound or the last sound in the word (the vowel stays the same- short /a/).
The student finds the correct letter (with help of teammates) and sits on the scooter to drive the letter to the correct place (or hula hoop).
First team to place a correct beginning or ending sound wins a point!
