This is a great activity to practice everyday words and sight words with a fun Halloween inspired twist. Add words to regular dice (font size 14 works great) and add the words, the, am, I, see, like, and me. Or write the words on a one inch cube or block. As the children roll they will say the word and then color in the jack-o-lantern above the corresponding sight word. If you would like to use this as a writing activity, have the children use a marker to write the word, instead of coloring. My students loved this. We put a smiley face abave the word that made it to the top first and continued to play until each word won! During rest time I called them up to read the words again, many new a few new words!
