Race to the Top Math Edition is a fast pace partner game that is great for your independent centers or for your small group instruction. I like to have this game sitting on my small math group table ready for my students to play. My students all really enjoy playing this game, so it encourages them to get to the group quickly and while we are waiting for all the students to arrive they get to practice critical math skills. I also send these game boards home with students for them to play with their families! The parents and kids really love this twist on traditional homework.
This packet includes 6 game boards that focus on addition equations from 0-10.
All you need to do is print the game board, laminate for durability, and gather markers (I like to use clothespins or paper clips and the students can slide them up the game board as they are playing) and a die.
Students will roll the die, move that many spaces on their side of the board and answer the equation. If they are correct they get to leave their marker. If they are incorrect and their partner challenges them, they have to move their marker back to the spot they were on. The winner is the first one to the top!
