This is a biography piece about Rachel Carson, an conservationist. She led the way for preservations and brought the dangers of chemicals to light.
I altered a biography to make it more student friendly. The text is rigorous, but not overly challenging. It provides students with context clues and promotes rereading as well as Common Core "thinking."
It has 9 questions. Some of which require the use of context clues, inferencing, and finding the main idea. I also included a timeline.
