Radical Equation Scavenger Hunt
Students will practice solving radical equations through this scavenger hunt. Just print the twelve cards and scatter around the room and put a few in the hallway if possible. Students are placed in groups and assigned to a starting problem. The answer they get will lead them to their next problem. Types of problems included are as follows:
Radical = Number
Radical = Radical
Radical = Variable
Radical = Binomial
Students must isolate the radical on a few problems, be able to solve both linear and quadratic equations, and check for extraneous solutions.
Scavenger hunts are one of my favorite activities because it gets students up and moving, and provides a way for students to self-check.
