This is an "alphabet soup" activity for simplifying radical expressions and solving radical equations that I used in my Algebra course. (I did this activity once in a different unit and the kids suggested I call it alphabet soup so that is where the name came from!)
Each student gets a card. There are 26 cards - one for each letter of the alphabet. I have added blanks in case you have a bigger class. Students will solve the problem on their card, then walk around the room and solve the cards of each of their classmates until they have completed every letter. Included with the cards are a page for student work as well as an answer key. I like to post the answer key at the front of the room as a self-checking tool.
Please note that there are a few factoring quadratics questions because I wanted to review before our next unit which was solving quadratic equations by factoring :)
