This product is a lab I created for my high school Physical Science students. This lab gives students an understanding of half-life and radioactivity by using pennies to model radioactive decay. The lab has students put their data into a data table, average and graph their results, analyze their data based on their graph and respond in paragraph form and requires them to answer two half-life practice problems.
This lab was designed to work in classrooms that have few science supplies and requires only pennies and zip-lock bags.
This lab is tied to Physical Science Georgia Performance Standards:
SPS3. Students will distinguish the characteristics and components of radioactivity.
SPS3c. Explain the process of half-life as related to radioactive decay.
