Count the Room

Searching for a fun new way for your students to practice counting objects 1-10 this Halloween?
Want a center that is little to no prep but has your little 'ghosts and goblins' up and about?

This Bat themed 'count the room' activity will engage your independent learners and they will have no idea they are practicing counting and writing numbers 1-10! In addition to counting and numbers, it reviews colors/color words too!

They are sure to find this center quite 'spook'-tacular!

The center can also be used as a 'stationary' center rather than count the room. Place cards in baskets and/or buckets (even fun Halloween treat buckets!) rather than tape around the room!

You can use it in a Halloween sensory bin too! Simply fill your bin/bucket with artificial leaves, corn, oats, beans, etc. Add these cards and have students pull and record the number of that colored bats on their recording sheet!

Use it for early finishers basket too!

Directions/Suggestions For Use:
Print and laminate cards. Tape cards around the room for a ‘count the room’ activity or they can be placed in a basket/bucket on a table for a stationary center activity.

Students look at the picture(s), count the number of objects on the card and write down the number of that colored bats on the recording sheet under that color word crayon.

Other Ideas:
Use for centers, center extension activities and/or early finisher basket:

*Place a set of these cards in a basket/bag. Students can put them in order from least to most bats (or most to least).

*Use as a sensory bin/bucket math center too
