Here is a fun activity that you can utilize with the book, Rainbow Fish, by Marcus Pfister. This activity is called an Open-Minded Portrait. On the first page, students draw and create “Rainbow Fish” with art materials. This page is called the “Drawing Page.” On the second page, students write words or draw images to describe the main character. This page is called the “Thinking Page.” It is a fun activity to truly get the students thinking about what the main character looks like (drawing) and what they act like (writing using kid spelling or developmental spelling).
