Students will love writing their letters in rainbow order using different types of writing instruments. They will enjoy using markers, smelly markers, colored pencils, crayons, or other writing instruments when writing their ABCs. First, students will trace the capital letter and then write it on their own. Then students will trace the lowercase letter and write it on their own. They will follow rainbow order if it has 6 traceable letters (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple). If it has 8 traceable letters, they will use brown and black as well. As each letter is traced, they can say the sound that it makes. Students will trace and write a word (noun) beginning with that letter, then they will draw and label another noun beginning with that letter. For vowels, students will draw a label a noun that has that vowel in the middle. For the letter Xx, they will draw and label a word ending with that letter. Students will learn how to hold their writing instrument correctly and place finger spaces between each letter.
