There are three experiments and a set of formative questions. In the first part of this experiment we add a scientific weight (pre-measured is best) to a graduated cylinder of water. When then use the displacement of the water to find the volume of the irregular object. We repeat the process with a different object.
The second portion of this is identifying fluid density. You would have multiple house hold liquids. I used different sodas, orange juice and grenadine. (More information on that later). You calculate the weight of the graduated cylinder, add the fluid and record, then subtract the cylinder's weight. This gives you the mass of the liquid.
The third part is a formative portion section which makes sure that students understand the main points of the lab.
The final part of the experiment is using the fluids that you had calculated to make a surprise for the students at the end of the lab. See video link
Hope you enjoy or get a good launching point for a good learning experience.
