This activity is designed for practicing sight words (and letter formation) by tracing 88 different sight words on a colorful sheet (3 words on each sheet). The sheets could be printed and used for data recording for writing or the sheets could be placed in sheet-protectors to be written on with dry-erase markers.
The large print, defined space for each word, and the absence of distracting graphics are all purposeful adaptations for learners with special needs. In addition, the words are already in colors, so the student does not need to change writing tools to make it colorful- the student can use one writing tool to trace all the rainbow words.
This can be a wonderful literacy center in which student work independently to trace the words of the week. An extension activity that goes along with this center could be to have the student compose/ copy/ dictate a sentence for each one of the three words.
