Rainbow Write to 100 is a great tool for helping students build number sense to 100. Students work to fill in a hundreds chart for each color in the rainbow.
Print a book for each student. Staple the book at the top and allow students to decorate the front including their name. You may also wish to print, cut, and laminate the “I Rainbow Wrote to 100” brag tags to give to students when they complete their books.
I use these books as a math station. Students pull out their books and choose the color they would like to work on for the day. They write their numbers first using pencil so that they can correct any mistakes. Next, they trace over the numbers with a marker. (If they are on the red page, they will trace over each number with red, etc.) I have included a hundreds chart to use as scaffolding. When students have finished a page, they turn in their books to me. If the page is correct, I hole punch that color gumball on the front of their book. This shows them how far along they are. When they complete their book, they take it home and earn their brag tag!
