Product Description

This engaging close read includes 5 pages of informational text! Students will learn all about the rainforest habitat by watching a slideshow, reading about the rainforest and completing some QR code research on Rainforest animals and their adaptation. These reading passages with comprehension questions are designed to get the student to look back into the text to answer the text dependent questions. This resource is designed specifically to meet the NGSS standards for 3rd grade Disciplinary Core Idea, Biological Evolution: Unity and Diversity

3-LS4-3. Construct an argument with evidence that in a particular habitat some organisms can survive well, some survive

less well, and some cannot survive at all.

3-LS4-4. Make a claim about the merit of a solution to a problem caused when the environment changes and the types of plants and animals that live there may change.

This CLOSE Reading Science unit is also perfect for Earth Day or any other environmental reading for Grades 3-5.

Included in this resource: Five pages of nonfiction text, a slideshow on habitat, response pages, interactive notebook inserts, tow sorting activities with task cards and sorting cards, answer keys and a layered book for a mini report on a rainforest animal.

I have mapped out a suggested timeline and believe it will take at least 8 days to complete all of the rainforest unit.

This close reading unit is also aligned with NGSS for 3rd grade. The reading passages are geared to 3rd-5th grade and the response pages are aligned with CCSS for reading informational text.
