PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This is a MEGA Rainforest Literacy, Science and Geography resource specifically designed for primary grades! This unit has been taught in my first grade class over the years and is kid approved! I have spent 15 years traveling with students to the Amazon Rainforest and Costa Rica. I have valuable experience that I am sharing in this fun and engaging resource. I am excited to share this unit with other teachers.

This is a tremendous value with 272 pages. This resource includes:
actual photographs from the Amazon Rainforest, guided reading books for small groups, a pre/post assessment, two teacher books for read alouds, 22 anchor charts to help teach skills and concepts including geography skills, structure of a tropical rainforest, animals/plants found in a tropical rainforest, conservation and facts. Included is a list of non-fiction and fiction books that I use as well as a comprehensive list of websites and resources that are appropriate for learning about rainforests! It is all at your fingertips as I have compiled it all into one resource for you!

Research Project:
Two different research books with graphic organizers for students to learn about one rainforest animal. I have included pictures of my student work to show how it was used in my first grade classroom.

Bulletin Board:
I have sample photos of a bulletin board and I have included pictures, animal pictures in three different sizes, animal print alphabet letters and numbers to use on a bulletin board and nine essential questions that can choose from for your unit of study!

Finally, I have included vocabulary word cards and rainforest words that will support language acquisition for your rainforest thematic unit of study.

Life in the Rainforest (Non-fiction text with photos of people along the Amazon River) 7 page book
Plants of the Rainforest (Non-fiction text in black and white) describing trees and plants of rainforest 10 page book
Rainforest Detective (Non-fiction text black and white) students figure out clues for rainforest animals. 9 page book
Rainforest Numbers (Non-fiction black and white) fun reader following ten animals in the different layers using number words.
