This lab allows students to test 2 variables related to kinetic and potential energy: How does changing the height of the ramp affect the energy of the ball, and how does changing the mass of the ball affect the overall kinetic energy? Materials needed: textbooks, meter sticks, materials to construct a ramp (I just use cardboard but meter sticks also work), cups, and balls of different mass (I used a marble, ping pong ball, and golf ball).

If you would like your students to calculate the amount of potential energy based on the height of the ramp and mass of the ball, check out my high school version of this lab.
