I use this resource in my classroom for the entire month of December. I give each student a copy of this kindness list. Every morning as they enter the classroom and get settled for the day, they check off one act of kindness on their list. This becomes their "kindness goal" for the day. By the end of the month students have checked off and completed all acts on the list. It is a great challenge to remind your students what being kind really means. It is also a great activity to do instead of making the month of December about religious holidays.
Here are all the acts of kindness included on the list..
Give a classmate a nice compliment to make their day!
Push in chairs throughout the day to help your teacher.
Hold a door open for someone in the building.
Talk or sit with someone new at lunch.
Play with someone you’ve never played with at recess.
Invite someone who might look lonely at recess to join you in your game.
Thank an adult (that is NOT your teacher) at school for what they do (Custodians, Secretaries, Nurses, etc.)
Make a card for a teacher at School.
Help your teacher clean desks at the end of the day.
Help clean up the classroom floor throughout the school day.
Offer to help someone before they need to ask for help
Smile, wave and say “Hi!” to someone new.
Write a positive note or poem for a classmate & deliver it to their mailbox.
Try to only speak kind & positive words for the entire day. No Negativity!
Carry or hold something for someone else.
Work extra hard at saying PLEASE & THANK YOU all day!
Make someone else smile or laugh today!
