This random student sorter is a life safer in my classroom. When I sort student groups, I get all kinds of flack from my students about who they don't want to work with and why did I put them with THAT person. When I use this sorter, I don't get any grief at all. I use this for lab groups, activity groups, class teams, quizzing partners, etc. It takes, literally, minutes to set up a class. Click save and you've got it for the long haul.
I do most of my sorting off line. When they groups are sorted to my satisfaction, I use the print screen function and paste the image into my power point and crop it.
It's also fun to ask a student to give you a number from one to ten and with the number of groups selected, hit the sort again button that many times. They like watching it sort and they KNOW you've done it randomly.
This works with all ages and levels of students. The file is preset for up to 8 periods and a club.
