These Random Grouping Sticks are the perfect tool for randomly grouping your students into cooperative learning groups. You can quickly group students by pencil color, number, or the animal on the eraser. You could also group them by even/odd numbers, animal features (animals with wings, beaks, etc..), animal habitats, etc... There are dozens of possibilities!
What I love about these is that you can change it up every time so students never know how you’ll be grouping them! This provides more opportunities for students to work with different classmates each time. Simply pass out one pencil to each student and then group them according to one of the attributes. Need to regroup them again? Call out another attribute and have them regroup!
Not only do these grouping sticks take the hassle out of grouping your kids, but they’re also a great way to help your students to learn how to work and get along with anyone in the classroom.
This packet comes with templates for the 36 unique sticks, directions for assembly as well as a page of attributes that describes some of the ways that you can use them to group students by. You can read more about them on my blog!
