In my classroom, we do a lot of group work and pair work. Students sit in table groups, but for some short activities I like to mix it up a bit more without having to get into a new seating chart. That's where I came up with Alphabet Pairs.
Alphabet Pairs is a random way to allow my students to draw a slip and find a partner in a quick, efficient manner. My students are used to many different random partner activities, so they quickly draw their card and listen for instructions on finding their groups. In this activity, each student will draw EITHER a letter of the alphabet OR a number. Then, on the board I place the KEY. Students quickly find their line, and then group up according to which letter is with which number.
I created 5 different sets to pair the letters and numbers in different ways. That way I can use different sets for different periods through the day or use different sets in the same class for later activities. This helps cut down on students "learning" the sets and trying to manipulate which student they pair up with.
You will receive a 13 page PDF file. The first 3 pages explain how to use the sets. Then there are 10 pages of the alphabet sets: 1 page per set to cut out and 1 page of the key for 5 sets.
If you have any questions - I'd prefer you ask me BEFORE purchasing rather than leaving less than flattering feedback after purchasing. :)
